Slim BU40N crawling

I had the slim BU40N flashed and working fine in a Dell Precision 3680. Then I took the same drive and installed it in a Dell Pro Max T2 Tower. Now it reads the UHD disk (MKV, AACS and cfg files all in place and no read errors), but the disk keeps spinning, and only the first image of the disk shows on VLC, and nothing else happens, but the drive keeps spinning with the disk. Any help appreciated. Power supply issue? It is connected via a small SATA power cable to the motherboard SATA power ATX slot. All the cables are OEM Dell (the machine came with an OEM 9.5 mm DVD RW drive (HT-LG), which I replaced with the BU40N). Thanks in advance.

I believe this is voltage SAG. UHD drivess draw a significant current spike on the 5V line when the laser assembly kicks into high-speed reading for dense triple-layer discs.

DELL mobo is designed for their basic OEM DVD-RW, which sips power in comparison. This causes drive's controller to brown out and hang on the exact frame VLC just received, while the motor keeps spinning.

You'll need to route a dedicated SATA power cable directly from the system's power supply, or move the drive into an externally powered enclosure.
