Case removal? - Verbatim slimline (LPUBAA)

I have the Verbatim External Slimline Blu-ray Writer. This shows up as a Pioneer BD-RW BDR-UD03 in MakeMKV. It's ~4 years old.
My drive has been getting flakier and flakier over the past month, with my laptop giving the Windows "device disconnected" and "device connected" tone every time I open the drive and close the drive. My background is software, not hardware, but this sounds like a damaged or loose cable, guessing the cable that runs from the head back to the back of the drive is moving every time the tray opens or closes.
For the life of me, I can't figure out how to open this case. No screws. I'm assuming there are retaining clips somewhere, but I can't find them. Couldn't find any info on repair or disassembly for this drive online. Anyone know the trick?
