Jackie Chan's Breakout Hits [Limited Edition] [4K Ultra HD] Box Set

I’m trying to rip the discs from this new release, but my drive cannot read them. The box set was just released, and I purchased it through Amazon, and when I insert them MakeMKV says that it’s reading the disc, and then after about two minutes it ejects it. I thought at first it might be a drive issue, so I updated the drive with the SDFtool flasher, and the drive shows it should work. Unfortunately, I don’t have any other UHD discs to test if the issue is with all UHDs, and DVDs and 1080p Blu-rays seem to work fine. I’m not sure what else I should include here, but I’ll include what MakeMKV showed for the drive before and after flashing. I have the log file and can post that as well, but it is fairly unhelpful since it never actually reads the disc. I'm on macOS, but I needed to use a Windows VM to patch the firmware and can re-patch that way if necessary. I've also seen some people having success using version 1.17.7 on Linux, but I'm not sure how to compile that for macOS. I guess I could go that direction and figure it out if necessary.

Here’s MakeMKV’s info pane:

And for clarification, the drive is a BP50NB40-NB50 which was flashed with that version of the patched firmware.

Any help is appreciated; thank you.

I think a BP50NB40 is a two-hopper drive, meaning it has to be flashed twice to work with UHD.

Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide

The 'Recommended Firmware to Flash for MakeMKV' section says:

Code: Select all

WP/BP50NB40 to > BP50NB40-NB50-1.03MK then to > BP60NB10 1.02MK or 1.00MK
I would guess that you've done the first part and now need to cross flash it to the BP60NB10 firmware.

You can do this from Terminal in macOS if you like (the instructions are farther down in the Guide), or use SDFtool in a Windows VM.
