I have a DVD box set of Blade the Series and a DVD release of Blade House of Chthon. But when I put them into any drive on my computer the discs report they are 11GB each disc on either windows or Linux same thing happens. When I try to open them in MakeMKV i get an error msg
MakeMKV v1.18.2 win(x64-release)
udf: UDF: BROKEN DIRECTORY ENTRY
and then I can not get the discs to finish correctly, I have tried this on the 1 DVD release for the movie and 4 discs from the box set which disc 1 is also the movie and the other 3 discs are the tv series.
Is there a solution to be able to read these discs properly?

Tried that and all 4 settings fail with same error, but the discs are playing fine on my standard tv dvd player box.

Were you able to successfully make a decrypted backup of the DVD? If so, was MKVToolNix GUI also confused by the DVD's structure?

Nope I have been unable to rip any of the 5 discs I have so far (1 DVD for the movie, 4 discs that also includes a copy of the movie as disc 1). Even using a LibreRip patched drive doesn't work for them.
Sadly I am thinking I will have to use some other software to rip these discs to iso, and then attempt to use makemkv to extract the files.

Curious if you ever got to the bottom of this error. I just saw the same thing for the first time. Tried the DVD in 3 completely different systems (different computers with different drives) and all produce this exact same error message first when trying to do a backup to ISO. I was also unable to Open the DVD in MakeMKV. However, it will play perfectly in VLC Media Player on Windows 10 and 11 Pro but not Fedora 44 Workstation (each OS on a different PC with different optical disc drive).
