some rippers stopped loading Bluray discs from Verbatim 43888 (BDR-UD04)

I have been using external Verbatim 43888 (with BDR-UD04) for several years and have backuped many BDs mostly with music and concerts. I used Acrok video converter for backups to my PC. Suddently Acrok started not to be able to load any of my disc´s showing the message "the disc cannot be loaded". Originally I thought this is the problem of Region choice. But after checking with Power DVD23, I found out there is still Region B (Europe) set and there are still 5 options to change Region, so evidently I didn´t make any change by mistake with Region choice. And on top of this, Power DVD is able to play on all BD´s without problems. So I started to look for another ripping programme because Acrok doesn´t reply my questions. I tried VLC first-neither this programme loads the discs from my Verbatim 43888. Then I tested DVDFab and this programme is loading and ripping without problems. But the sound is reduced to much. So I found Tipard. This ripper looks quite OK to me with keeping the sound bitrate up to 640kbps. Has anybody any experience with backing up BD´s trying not only to keep Video in excellent quality but preserve mainly Audio in original quality? I also would like to find out why some rippers suddently don´t load BD´s from Verbatim 43888.
