I recently was using MakeMKV and had no troubles. Then tonight I went to copy a DVD, and was told I needed to upgrade my copy of the program (as I was told over the weekend when I last used it - I upgraded and had no problems). Then tonight, when I tried to copy a DVD, I was given the message:
Drive DVD+R-DL MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ8D1 L.01 has RPC protection that can not be bypassed. Change drive region or update drive firmware from http://tdb.rpc1.org. Errors likely to follow.
Error 'Scsi error - ILLEGAL REQUEST:READ OF SCRAMBLED SECTOR WITHOUT AUTHENTICATION' occurred while reading '/VIDEO_TS/VTS_05_1.VOB' at offset '4096'
over and over again. So I tried copying a disc that I have copied successfully in the past - same thing. I uninstalled and re-installed the program. Still the same issue. I'm at a loss what to do, and I have DVD's I need to copy before my big move (I'm trying to downsize).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
K
Not reading discs at all
Re: Not reading discs at all
Verify that the drive is clean - I've seen this pop up on some of my drives from time to time, when the disk is scratched or dirty, but it could come up any time the initial read of the data comes back looking scrambled. Multiple disks would point to the drive itself.
