Can't Rip and OLD DVD

I thought maybe it was the old DVD just being "Old". A few scratches here and there; but, it still plays fine. Then I read the forums here and it looks like others have similar issues. And I was able to rip it w/ some other software. But, I wana rip it w/ MakeMKV because it's the best :wink: And, it's lossless. I have tried to rip this particular WB DVD w/ MakeMKV on 2 of my machines w/ different LG BR Burners and I get the same result.

Chances are the disc is damaged / dirty or poorly pressed. However as it's a DVD there is a small chance it's a structural copy protection issue. Please take the steps for sending the IFO files as described here:

Spot on crowfax. MakeMKV finally worked after the 25th or 26th time in the Memorex OptiFix Pro :mrgreen: :oops:

Of course, the last two "Repair" Cycles I held pressure on the lid of the OptiFix w/ my thumbs :!:

Just because a disc can be played, does not mean it can be ripped. Ripping is more strict than playing, so there if there are excessive problems with the media it can't be ripped.

You could perhaps try taking the disc to a DVD rental place and see if they can polish it for you. That might make it rip-able if it's only a problem with the surface and not the substrate.
