DVD RIPs OK fails to save as MKV file

Hi,
I'm a new user and have been ripping a few DVD's with no problems. Recently I attempted to rip Laputa, Castle In the Sky. and it appeared to work ok. I chose the first title with english audio and subtitles only. however after pressing make MKV, it started but then stopped after a while saying that Save failed. I tried it a few times even clearing cache's etc but the same thing happens.

I've attached a log of the event and hope someone can help me.

PS I'm using MakeMKV v1.7.10 win(x64-release) started
Debug logging enabled, log will be saved as C:\Users\Trevor/MakeMKV_log.txt

Try cleaning the disc...

Did that after the first attempt, still no luck. Maybe a bad disk

Then return it to the place of purchase in exchange for a new replacement...

From the log It looks like a bad disc, but there is a chance it's a structure protection. To be sure, I have to ask you for a lengthy task - please do this - /onlinehelp/testdump.html
