Blu-ray not detected until CD is ripped

Post by chronomac » Wed Apr 22, 2026 2:42 pm

Have an issue with my BP50NB40 (that's been flashed to BD-RE BP60NB10 1.00, per MakeMKV). If I go a few days without ripping a Blu-ray or 4K Blu-ray and then put a new disc in, I always get No disc inserted in MakeMKV. After seeing that, if I put an audio CD and rip it with another program and then put that same Blu-ray disc in after it works again. Happened to me today: Put a Blu-ray in, got an error, ejected it, put a CD in, ripped it, ejected that, put the Blu-ray back in and it shows up like normal.

Any idea what's causing this? I tried to use the GIU firmware flasher to reset it to stock firmware, to flash it again, but it doesn't seem to work. Feel like I'm stuck at 1.00.

I don't think this is related to the existing sleep bug but please keep me honest if I'm off-base.
