Pioneer BD 208D: Upgrade in which order?

Post by birdbrain » Tue Dec 09, 2025 6:42 am

Hello!

I have a Pioneer BD-208DBK that is running the original firmware. I know this because the firmware has never been up- or down-graded. On the device is the following: MFD NOVEMBER 2012.

Pioneer Japan has a firmware update to get the device to version 1.50. There is also a warning: "Once updated to version 1.50, this drive will not revert to older firmware versions."

Should I flash the firmware with the Pioneer software to 1.50 and then flash it with makemkv, or just skip the Pioneer-sourced flash altogether? I don't want to create an issue in case the firmware would need to be downgraded.

Many thanks!

Copy and paste the MakeMKV drive info and libredrive info sections before you do anything.
Cheers :D
