Problem with Panasonic Edited Blu-Ray DR Files

Post by GordonHathaway » Wed Jul 03, 2024 9:44 am

I have been very succesful in reading and saving un-edited recordings in DR (Direct Recording) mode. This includes those that have been trimmed at both ends before recording to Blu-Ray.

However on any where I have edited out adverts etc. or made any cuts in the middle I find MakeMKV copies the first section and then repeats it but never recovers any subsequent sections.

Is there any way to stop this please? My only solution is to not edit the files before recording to Blu-Ray and then edit the MKV copies but that leaves me with a master BD that has all the adverts in!

I hope there is a solution!

Whatever happens, thank you for this fantastic software.

I don't believe MakeMKV works with UK Freeview shows which have unique anti-copy protection. Since you can get segments with just leading and trailing trims, try doing this for each segment you wish to keep. If MakeMKV can properly decode those segments then you can reassemble these with MKVToolbox by concatenating them and remuxing.

You will probably have better luck asking about this on a Freeview forum.
