Pioneer BD-RW BDR-XD07 - Troubleshooting 4kUHD discs not reading

Post by daryth84 » Fri Jan 12, 2024 3:39 pm

I was not aware until beginning this attempt at ripping for a home server that there was a difference in 4k UHD and just plane Bluray discs, it appears my drive is MakeMKV LibreDrive Ready ("Enabled") but it does not seem capable of detecting any 4k UHD disc i put in it. It just spins a little, then spins again about 4x and seems to give up and says what you see in the attached image "No disc inserted"

Any advice on how to make this drive detect and rip 4KUHD?

Edit:
I guess the image isn't posting. here's the info from MakeMKV

Hmm It seems i can't reply or message people back yet as I dont have enough participation to merit being a human yet and the original post seems to have vanished after i attempted to edit it so here goes again.

Good evening,

i am facing the same issue with my bd drive that daryth84 had, its the same model and firmware. I was wondering what the solution was since flashing is not an option for pioneer drives yet, at least according to the flashing guide from 2023 that i found. I hope someone can help me resolve this problem.

Cheers, Skorm

It can't read UHD discs as it is not a UHD drive.

Good morning,

Out of the box it shouldn’t be, that much I know. But there has to be a way to flash the XD07 an other pioneer drives, because its getting advertised and sold as such here in this forum.

For example, here the XD07TS (the one I have) is getting advertised as “cross flashed” to a XD07TUHD.

Yes but there has not been any publicly released flasher tool for them.
