This may be something others already know - but I just realized it so I figured I would share it here. When the same special features are on both the Blu-ray and UHD discs of a release - the files on the UHD disc will be much smaller (assuming they are both in the same resolution). Since the codecs used on UHD discs (H.265) is just more space efficient than what is on Blu-rays (usually H.264), files of the same resolution will be smaller.
For example, I just finished ripping the 4K release of Brawl in Cell Block 99 which has the same set of features on both the UHD and the Blu-ray disc. On the Blu-ray discs they are:
Beyond Fest Q&A - 5.9GB
Journey to the Brawl - 2.8GB
on the UHD disc they are:
Beyond Fest Q&A - 3.4GB
Journey to the Brawl - 1.8GB
That is a pretty huge savings! I had never really given this much thought and usually rip the extra features from the Blu-ray disc.
Tip: Special Features on 4K discs
Re: Tip: Special Features on 4K discs
A good tip.
Most of the time it seems the extras are only on the blu-ray and not on the UHD.
