can any blu-ray drive be used to rip HD discs?

for the ripping of 1080p BRD's to .iso is there any requirements of the blu-ray drive or will any drive suffice?

If the drive not rated for 4K content (anything built before 2016), no, it isn't going to read 4K HD content. Reading NORMAL Bluray content, it should work, though.
