No longer ripping 4K discs I once could

Post by bobfish » Sat Oct 15, 2022 5:28 am

Hi everyone, I noticed my LG GGC-H20L on firmware 1.03 which used to be able to rip UHD discs didn't seem to be working on some newer titles I tried (lord of the rings). I updated to 1.17.2 of makemkv but unfortunately it's still not working. It simply loads for a while and then says no disc inserted. Blu-ray discs are still working so I hope it's not the player has died but not sure.

I even went back to a UHD disc that I've done in the past and that gave me the same error. I have the drive in a windows 11 desktop PC

No idea what could be happening. Thanks for any help :)

Sorry it's a google link and a photo, on a different PC and it wouldn't let me directly upload as file size was too big :(

Thanks!

That looks like an old HD-DVD drive.

Thanks everyone! You made me realise I used to have 2 optical drives in my old case (both LG and both did blu-ray while one did UHD as well) and I accidentally put the wrong one in here. The right one is a lg bn16ns55 which does do uhd. They both only say dvd / blu-ray so its a bit confusing haha.

Thanks :)
