Failed to install CDRom Device Arbiter Service

Post by DigitalJockey » Sun Sep 11, 2022 11:59 pm

Hello all,

I was just installing MakeMKV on my recently formated PC and while installing I´ve got a message saying "Failed to install CDRom Device Arbiter Service" and the only option I had was to proceed with the installation.

What can I do to correct this?

Thank you

Should work without it. The arbiter service is a way to bypass some of the {stuff} that Windows tries to put in your way.

I disable the installation on my Win7 machine. Might be more critical on Win10/11, unless you set the ownership properly. The arbiter service sets up a supervisor task that will talk to the drive when you're not running as a supervisor.

i have just done the same thing as you have. trust me, everything works just fine with out it. i got the same error. i am playing and ripping Blue-Rays with VLC and Makemkv. If you get stuck just ask, and i will see if i can help you. take your time and try and approach the issue from all angles, not just 2 dimensional, which is the default for the human brain... ;-}
