Title Information - (C1) (B1) etc.

Post by jpb@46 » Sat Aug 13, 2022 10:56 am

When a TV series DVD is loaded and the files to save are displayed, I am recently seeing (C1) or (B1) after the file size. Please tell to me what this means. Does it have anything to do with episode order?

go to preferences/protection and set DVD protection to CellTrim and you should see something more familiar.

So, anyone know the answer to the actual question? What are those (C1) whatever numbers for and do they indicate track order or what? THAT was the question. Not how to set the view to something else.

MakeMKV appends a string to the name of a title to ensure that every filename it tries to write out is unique. I think the things you're seeing on DVDs are part of MakeMKV's scheme to do that. I don't think they can reliably be used to determine track order.

Sometimes they can. On a TV show I recently ripped, there was A 1 to 5, B 1 to 5 and C 1 to 4. And these numbers corresponded to 5 tracks on page 1, 5 tracks on page 2 and 4 tracks on page 3 of the episodes.

Likewise it can help you "seeing", which videos belong to each other, like which ones were placed in one menu.

On your example I would say C1 and C2 are the episodes when selected from the menu and B1 is the "play all"-button
