Removing Infinifilm Overlay

I have the infinifilm version of Elf (2003). I've gone through ripping with several options, and cannot get rid of the infinifilm popups on this. Every rip variation of tried still has them present. No amount of forum searching has found a solution. The movie rips just fine, it's just those godawful infinifilm pop-ups every 2 minutes that I can't get rid of. Any ideas how to rip this movie and strip that part out?

Have you tried re-encoding the video with handbrake, and leaving out any suspicious subtitle tracks?

MakeMKV is going to "faithfully reproduce" the video track, but handbrake may simply ignore the "extra junk".

I did do a handbrake re-encode, but I just used all the typical settings I've used for all my other encodes. I'll dig into the handbrake options more closely and see if I can find something there.

Great instincts. I went into handbrake and cleared all subtitle tracks (in this case it was just foreign language scan), and that seems to have worked. I appreciate the help.
