HD-DTS encode

#1 Post by fe123 » Fri Mar 20, 2015 4:05 pm

Hello,

is it possible to encode HD-DTS to 768kbps DTS or AC3?

Thanks in advance!

Many (most?) DTS variants can be recoded by MakeMKV to FLAC, if you are using the FLAC profile (or a custom one based upon it) to rip the disk.

Thanks for your reply! I have a old AV-receiver.. I guess he will not support FLAC.. 768kbps DTS or AC3 would be perfect. It is not possible to encode the HD-DTS to one of this (i would prefer ac3) codecs?

It is documented in the changehistory:

MakeMKV v1.8.6 ( 11.11.2013 )

Expert mode:
Added support for AC3 encoding (mainly for DTS->AC3 audio transcoding)

There are other programs out there that can help. Visit handbrake.fr for a program that can take the MKV files from MakeMKV and recode both the video and the audio tracks. They can output AAC, AC3, and MP3 from DTS, as well as adding "pass through" tracks.
