Black Swan BD not ripping

#1 Post by zirtico » Sat Feb 07, 2015 12:10 am

I tried ripping this on a Mac and a PC using MakeMKV 1.9.1 and was unsuccessful after trying multiple times. The disk is physically not damaged at all. It says "UNCORRECTABLE ERROR" about halfway through the rip and stops. Do I need to rip it again and create that BD+ dump thing and post that here so consequent versions of the program have the fix?

I'm guessing you're using a USB-powered drive, correct?

Make sure it's getting sufficient power - MakeMKV will spin the drive up to max speed, and a LOT of USB-powered drives will fail when that happens.... Insufficient power on the port they're plugged into.

If you need a hub to plug in the drive, make sure it is a POWERED hub. Many of these drives will work fine if plugged directly into the Mac, but fail when connected to a hub. Older ones have optional dual-head cables so you can plug into two ports to get enough power for full-speed operation.

Hmm, I've been using it directly plugged into the Mac/PC and there haven't been any problems spinning up to full speed. I'll try it plugged into to the additional wall adapter provided and see what happens. This seems to be the most protected disk I've tried to rip so far. I can't be the only one who hasn't been able to rip this?

I tried it plugged into the wall power and it still did not rip. What is the procedure of saving the BD dump and uploading it so the disk can be decrypted?

http://www.makemkv.com/svq/

Basically, you take the TGZ file created (the path to it would be in the log), and email it to svq@makemkv.com for analysis.
