Bluray drive sort of stops working
Bluray drive sort of stops working
I've been happily ripping Blurays to MKV using an LG UH12NS30. Up until yesterday. Now, the drive just refuses to have anything to do with Blurays, MKV says 'opening disc' thinks about for a longish period of time, and then report 'no disc'. With CDs its fine. Is it possible that just the Bluray part of the drive has expired? Just thought I'd check to see if this is possible before I buy a new drive. Thanks in advance.
Re: Bluray drive sort of stops working
Any new software installed recently, especially Bluray related?
Since the laser in a BD drive is used for all disk types, the fact that it can read CDs would indicate that the mechanical parts are working. The operating system telling MakeMKV that there is no disk would point towards software getting in the way.
Does it do the same thing if you try ripping a DVD?

Re: Bluray drive sort of stops working
Just ripped a DVD no problem, it will also play DVDs, but still refuses to see Blurays. As far as I'm aware nothing should have changed from when the machine was ripping Blurays quite happily.
Re: Bluray drive sort of stops working
Just swapped the drive over with a Pioneer drive, and that works fine, guess the LG must have gone to Bluray heaven
