Can chapters be retained?
Is it possible for the chapter markers to be retained when creating an MKV file? It would be nice to be able to scan forward within a movie to the origianl chapter markers.

Chapters of both DVDs and BluRays ARE retained in the MKVs created by MakeMKV. Access to them is dependent upon the capabilities of the software player you're using.
Try using the (freeware) VLC player. Load the MKV file and once it's begun playing, clcik on the "Video" dropdown and selct either "Chapters" or "Navigation".
Similarly, VLC will allow you to choose from among the saved audiostreams and (for DVD only, NOT BluRay presently)subtitles as well.
