It is showing 16.7Mb sec and 12.7X is this about right

"Right" depends on the disk being read. Some disks for me rip at speeds faster than the drive is supposed to do, but others rip along at 2-3x speed. A lot depends on other things running on the system, and the disk itself. Dirty disks take longer, as there are retries involved.

thanks. the problem I am having is after flashing the drive its fast but just playing a disk it screams. Sounds like its trying to read at this speed and its loud. I guess I can flash it back for playing and modded to rip but that just doesn't sound right.
