Hello everyone,
This is actually my first time posting on this forum. I’ve used MakeMKV before to rip a lot of movies without any issues, but now I’ve run into a bit of a problem.
Normally, I like to rip music DVDs (for example, U2 – Vertigo 2005: Live from Chicago) and then extract the chapters as WAV or FLAC files using Music Media Helper 8 so I can listen to them on my phone.
When I tried ripping the German release of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers – Soundstage (2004), MakeMKV gave me five files. One of them is clearly the bonus material, but the other four are almost identical—they differ only slightly in size and length (sometimes by just a couple of seconds).
My question is: does this happen because of how the playlists are arranged (with slightly different chapter structures), or are these actually separate data tracks? And if it’s the latter, which one should I use to make sure I’m getting the best quality?
Thanks in advance! I’ve also uploaded a screenshot for reference.

What I would do is a search on the internet and find the proper order of the track listing. Then compare to the 4 different files that you have. If they all seem to match, are you pulling the AC3/DTS file directly from the video and playing that, or are you converting the tracks to MP3?
I found the proper track list order:
https://www.discogs.com/release/1398334 ... ound-Stage
Compare it to what you have.
