[SOLVED] New version of AACS protection (multiple Bluray)

#1 Post by ripthem » Thu Feb 27, 2025 11:14 pm

I tried to rip my Bluray of Riddick (2013) and found this to be the first BD that makemkv cannot rip:

Code: Select all

This disc uses newer version of AACS protection. Please let us know about it by visiting http://www.makemkv.com/...
Saved AACS dump file as /Users/user/Library/MakeMKV/MKB_v44_Riddick_10DE.tgz
The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't be decrypted
Failed to open disc
I clicked on the given link and this uploaded something to the makemkv site, but I am not sure what to do with this zipped tar-File that got created too.
Shall I upload it somewhere?

How good are the chances that this BD can be ripped later?
I mean the movie is 12 years old!

That's odd. What AACS revision is the disc? What version of MakeMKV are you using?
Cheers :D

I just tried to continue with Spider-Man with Tobey Maguire and this continues:
Using LibreDrive mode (v01.0 id=489CDFD6D392)
Using direct disc access mode
Loaded content hash table, will verify integrity of M2TS files.
This disc uses newer version of AACS protection. Please let us know about it by visiting http://www.makemkv.com/...
Saved AACS dump file as /Users/user/Library/MakeMKV/MKB_v3_Spider-Man_E82C.tgz
The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't be decrypted
Failed to open disc
For Spider-Man, the Protection is shown in MakeMKV as: AACS v3

My makeMKV is at v1.17.8, registered!

I will disconnect the drive and reconnect it, also restart make MKV and then check the AACS version of Riddick!

The Riddick (2013) BD shows as AACS v44:

Code: Select all

Disc Information
Label: RIDDICK
Timestamp: 2013-12-10 13:54:37
Protection: AACS v44
Data capacity: 45.53 Gb
Disc type: BD-ROM
Number of layers: 2
Channel bit length: 74,5 nm (25.0 GB max. per layer)
And after reconnecting the device and restart of makeMKV, the disk can now be opened!

So no problem anymore, it seems.

Sorry for the disturbance - something was hanging it seems.
