Title says it all. In my experience ripping hundreds of Blu Rays to this point, they've either come out 100% pristine (sync "errors" maybe, but that's it) or have so many hash errors that the rip aborts (which is usually fixed by getting a different copy of the disc.)
But the current batch of Blu Rays I'm doing, I'll get a single hash check error for a specific offset, with anywhere between three and ten of them spread over the disc, but the rip will complete and I'll get a MKV file. Does that mean that MKV file is complete and uncorrupt? Or if I watch the movie there's going to be a visual or sound glitch in it here or there?
Are occasional one-off hash check errors OK?
Re: Are occasional one-off hash check errors OK?
Occasional hash checks are fine, so long as the disk read completes. It just means that the first attempt failed, and it had to retry the read.
When it starts saying things like it shut down... that's a problem. But saying the read was complete AND saved means that it was (eventually) able to read it.
