Can't rip certain Law and Order SVU DVDs - Empty VIDEO_TS folder

MakeMKV cannot open certain DVDs from the Law and Order series. If the VIDEO_TS folder is empty the app gives me a bunch of errors.

I've never seen DVDs that had an empty VIDEO_TS folder yet play fine in a DVD player. Another DVD ripping app I use on my Mac called Mac DVD Ripper Pro (MDRP) has no issues extracting each episode.

What kind of protection is being used here?

I believe I am encountering the same issue with Season 7 DVDs of Chicago Med.
Tried 1.17.2 on mac & win.
