[Solved] LG WH16NS40 (w/ 60 upgrade) doesn't see BD discs anymore

#1 Post by chaslinux » Mon Sep 19, 2022 10:17 pm

Running MakeMKV 1.17.1 on Xubuntu 20.04. I have an LG WD-16NS40 with the WH16NS60 firmware (LibreDrive MT1959). Up until recently the system has been detecting BD and UHD discs fine. MakeMKV still sees DVDs and I seem to have no problem ripping them. Blu-rays, however, just show up greyed out. Has anyone else run into this with a recent MakeMKV update?

A couple of things happened around the time: I updated to 1.17.1, but I also tried ripping a disc that was a bit dirty. Not sure if this would have thrown off the BD laser??? The drive isn't very old (less than a year).

Thanks all,

Thanks Billycar11, that's exactly what was needed!

I normally keep my machine on, so I've had this problem since yesterday. I did a complete shutdown (turned off the PSU as well just in case). When I saw the disc on the desktop I was so happy! Thanks, you really made my day!
