1.17.1: "Fatal error occurred"

#1 Post by DavidGA » Tue Sep 13, 2022 8:28 pm

Just upgraded MakeMKV to 1.17.1 on openSUSE Tumbleweed and now it will not work.

When running it, the main GUI appears, but is frozen. You can't resize the window or click any controls.

After about 10 seconds, an error pops up, saying "Fatal error occurred, program will now exit."

There is no output on stderr or stdout.

This happens with or without a disc in the drive, it doesn't make any difference.

I uninstalled the version from the openSUSE repo and installed the flatpak edition instead, and this works.

This error is present in other distros too since they have upgraded to glibc 2.36 - see this thread viewtopic.php?p=126336#p126336.

MakeMKV is provided by the PackMan repository in openSUSE, and they are aware of the problem https://lists.links2linux.de/pipermail/ ... 17209.html.

Also just started occurring for me.
OS: Solus 4.3, Budgie Desktop
MakeMKV: 1.17.1
Installed using the extra steps for latest libavcodec

The weird part is, it's been working fine since I installed it a week ago until about two hours ago.

Did the following:
1.) Reinstalled MakeMKV
2.) deleted every makemkv file on my computer and recompiled/reinstalled MakeMKV
3.) repeat but redownloaded then recompiled/reinstalled
4.) switched the drive to my Mint Linux server and it's working great

This just started happening to me on 2 Macs today! I thought maybe it was the disc and then tried my laptop. Both running 1.17.7 - both gave the 'fatal error occoured' message and auto quit. I think it must be a date related thing? Normally makemvk expires at some point?
