I have managed to get makemkvcon to work on Vero4k/OSMC however I cannot get any response from the program because "no usable optical drives."
The only useful help information here seems to suggest that for a drive to work with makemkvcon it needs to be mounted against /dev/sr0 AND /dev/sg0
But I cannot "sudo modprobe sg" as:
modprobe: FATAL: Module sg not found in directory /lib/modules/.....
Therefore my drive is only returned as /dev/sr0
If I cannot get the SCSI Generic module to load (becuse the system does not seem to have been compiled with it) can this program ever work?
FATAL: Module sg not found
Re: FATAL: Module sg not found
As I can see, this problem has been solved in the meantime:
Vero 4K/4K+: enable CONFIG_CHR_DEV_SG=m · osmc/osmc@fde3aeb
Vero 4K/4K+: enable CONFIG_CHR_DEV_SG=m · osmc/osmc@fde3aeb
Re: FATAL: Module sg not found
Yep Sam added that in after I brought up the error. And I can confirm that it now works on OSMC if you follow the instructions here:

Haven't tested overwriting the builtin decryption libraries but i may do that at somestage to verify osmc playback.
