Help Ripping Blu Rays

#1 Post by Ralphie Gee » Wed Mar 02, 2022 5:05 am

I'm new to Makemkv and I need help ripping blu ray discs. Can somebody here point to a thread where I can learn the basics of ripping a blu ray. FYI, I already started using Makemkv, but when I tried ripping my first blu ray it wasn't recognized.

Ripping BD is much the same as ripping DVD, so long as your drive supports it. You have a BD-capable reader, correct?

If you need help ripping blu rays a good place to start is the FAQ's. Look in Woodstock's signature for the link.

I went to my device manager and it doesn't seem like I have a BD-capable reader in my drive. Are there any other alternatives?

Drives to do "regular" BD are easy to find.

If you might move to UHD BDs in the future, I'd suggest starting with the UHD FAQ in the UHD forum, and then to the "Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2022" in the UHD drives section.
