Hidden in the preferences is an option to have makemkv unencrypt discs for other programs i.e. VLC
Could DVD Audio Extractor (
https://www.dvdae.com) be added to the list?

THAT would depend on DVD Audio Extractor; if they implement using linked libraries for the decryption in the same way VLC and Kodi do, then the same technique should work. If not... probably not.

Couldn't you just rip the movie with MakeMKV and then extract the Audio Streams from it?
