2 issues/questions regarding BR movies and tv shows.

I just got my new 8TB NAS, and i'm now ripping the movies. But the problem is that the ripping speed is incredibly slow. starts at 2x and very very slowly risses up to 5x or 6x was it. Like 12 or 15MB's when usb 2 which my makeshift external BR player can read at can read at max 60MB's theoretical. Why won't makemkv read faster?

And for tv shows. With dvd's, it can easily rip episode for episode, but with bluray, it rips the whole disk as one big movie with episodes clustered together. How can i get it to split BR episodes too?

It's normal for ripping speed to increase as you go. The bits are on the disk at a specific density, which means more bits per rotation, the further you get from the hub.

All episodes in one file vs. separate files per episode is the decision of the disk author. Some have both. And it doesn't matter if you're talking DVD or BD; I just ripped Brain Games on DVD, and 12 of 13 disks had both "all episodes in one" and "one episode per file". The one that didn't have both had "one episode per file".

If the disk was mastered as "all in one", you can use external tools (mkvtoolnix, handbrake, others) to split the episodes out by chapter boundaries.
