Re: my old new Pioneer BD-RW BDR-211M
Thank you for your answers.
Sorry, my question was: do I need to update it? I just took it out of the box after keeping it for a long time without using it. I don't even know if it's a good UHD recorder. I actually use an external ASUS drive that I flashed to LibreDrive 1.04. I just discovered LibreDrive and I just got my first 4K Blu-ray movie.
I usually update everything on my computer—drivers, firmwares—to optimize performance, fix bugs, get more options, etc.
So, what do you think I should do? Should I update to the latest firmware? Will it provide new features or bug fixes?
I just discovered on eBay that they sell it for a crazy price—almost $1000? Why is the price so high? I don't want to sell it, though.
I understand the latest firmware is 1.52 or 1.53. Can I flash it with the original Pioneer version, or does it require a special version?

with all the fakes the best way is to put a UHD disc but if you dont have one go by front bezel for now if its says UHD you should be good.Fraizer wrote: Thu Oct 15, 2026 11:09 pm thank you Billycar ^^

i see then not from pioneer.
What do those updates actually fix or improve—perhaps compatibility for recording 4-layer Blu-ray discs? Is 1.53 the latest version? for my case

i dont recommend using it but there it is it wont help you enable UHD if your drive does not do UHD already
