From what I gather either the hosting is in Russia or the author/dev is Russian or perhaps both. If the author is Russian, do we know if he is ok? With the war going on between Russia and Ukraine, I worry if perhaps something has badly happened to the Author/dev or close loved one, that would explain the absence.

I show the most recent post from the admin was November 23, 2025 when look under Mike Admin's posts.

So we aren't terribly far off from a year now since the admin has posted if what I am seeing is correct. Perhaps a bit worrisome.

As Billycar11 suggested, Mike was most recently on the forum on July 31, 2026 when he updated the latest beta key.

he rarely posts but every few months he edits his key post
and that does not update his last post stat

Are you sure those beta key post updates aren't just scripted updates? Has anyone actually spoken with him?

While I cannot answer that with absolute certainty, I find it highly unlikely (for many reasons) that any phpBB forum admin would go through the trouble of implementing some kind of scripted update mechanism for a single forum post that needs to be updated every two months or so.

I hope very much you are correct.

I did extensive chatgpt queries on all of this, server hosting, what happened between around June/July to now, etc. While I got some information ultimately nothing definitive of any value. But I hope long term, we don't wind up losing makemkv.
