How to Rip Sing-A-Long Edition
How to Rip Sing-A-Long Edition
how do i find the sing a long track to rip?
Re: How to Rip Sing-A-Long Edition
It depends. On some discs, the sing a long titles are burned into the video so there's no way to extract them as a separate track. The Nightmare Before Christmas Sing-a-long version bl-day is a good example of this. For other titles, its just one of the subtitle tracks. Playing the movie in VLC and selecting the different subtitle tracks should reveal which subtitle track it is.
You can't just rip the subtitle track, but you can extract the subtitle track from a ripped MKV using something like MKVCleaver.
You can also view all the subtitles tracks from an MKV using Subtitle Edit. I find that it can be a bit slow to do this, so I just extract all subtitle tracks from the MKV using MKVCleaver, and then view the individual subtitle tracks using Subtitle Edit.
It should be pretty obvious which is the subtitle track when viewing using Subtitle Edit. It will usually be a smaller subtitle track, and many times the font will be in a "fancy" font. Frozen 2 is a good example.
I have actually used the above process to extract sing-a-long tracks from a blu-ray version of a movie and added them to the 4K version of the movie that didn't have a sing-a-long track.

Re: How to Rip Sing-A-Long Edition
FYI my comments were mainly regarding movies that have the sing-a-long track as a subtitle track. For movies where the sing-a-long titles are embedded in the video, it will usually just be a different playlist. When you open the movie in MakeMKV, you should see different variations of the movie. These are controlled via playlist. The movie will be the ones that are largest in size, and you should see different variations of the movie. The easiest way to rip the "sing-a-long" version is just to rip all the different versions, and then view the MKVs after they have been ripped. Fast forward to one of the songs and it should be obvious which one is the sing-a-long version.
There are other ways to figure this out by looking at the different video files (under the Stream folder of a decrypted movie) associated with the playlist and discovering which one contains the video files with the sing-a-long versions.

Re: How to Rip Sing-A-Long Edition
Thanks for the info. Yeah so I just ripped the whole disc and after viewing all files, the sing along tracks are all divided into 1 file per song. Which leaves me confused
Re: How to Rip Sing-A-Long Edition
When you say 1 file per song, do you mean they are individual MKV files that were created after you ripped the disc?
Also what is your end goal - rip the whole entire movie so that it contains the sing-a-long titles while watching the movie, or are you just looking to extract the sing-a-long titles?

Re: How to Rip Sing-A-Long Edition
Yeah 1 mkv file per song. Which leaves me stumped cuz there are no non subtitle files to merge them with to make a complete movie viewing. Yeah I'd like to watch the movie in 1 file with the hard coded subs.
