Is my version of MakeMKV now toast for UHD ripping until the next update? *SOLVED*

So I'm very new to this and have been using GPT to help me along with some things. I recently got a new Verbatim 43888 drive, flashed the HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BU40N-1.03 firmware from the pack on this forum, and popped in Heat 4K and got this string of errors:

and now even 4K discs I previously ripped can't be opened and I get the same error. GPT said this can happen where a disc who's keys have not been added to the database yet gets read by a drive, it can revoke the certificate of my version of MakeMKV, effectively bricking UHD ripping capability until a new version of MakeMKV is released. GPT says even if I use another confirmed working drive or re-install MakeMKV, it won't open UHD discs until the next update comes out because the certificate is baked into the sofware or something..

Is this tracking, am I SOL on UHD ripping until MakeMKV gets an update like GPT suggests, or is there a way around this?

ChatGPT is absolutely useless for solving issues with MakeMKV.

This line indicates that LibreDrive is not currently active. UHD discs require LibreDrive to be active and functional.

MakeMKV only contains AACS 1.0 (1080p Blu-ray) host certificates. It has never contained an AACS 2.0 certificate so future updates have never resolved a UHD certificate revocation issue.

This was the most non-sensical part... Host certificate revocation works by maintaining a list of revoked host certificates within the drives non-volatile memory. Just because one of your drives may have an updated list of revoked host certificates this does nothing to any other disc drives you own.

The way around this is to get LibreDrive working properly. Once LibreDrive is working properly your drive is effectively immune to any future host certificate revocations. You don't need to wait on an update for MakeMKV.

1. Power cycle the drive (at least 10 seconds)
2. Insert a disc
3. Wait for the OS to initialize the disc
4. Open MakeMKV and you should be good to go.

I power cycled the drive and restarted my PC - popped in The Revenant 4K and the disc info reads fine, but when I go to open it I get the same issue - LibreDrive for some reason is not showing up as enabled in the debug screen - I get a whole string of errors that ends in this:

So, libredrive doesn't seem to be activating for some reason... Ok, you can try flashing it again. Since you are already on BU40N 1.03-MK, try flashing it to BU40N 1.00 then power cycle it again.

Always ensure you let Windows fully initialize the disc (you should be able to see it in windows explorer) before you open the MakeMKV application.

Thanks for all your help Marty! I really appreciate the support. During my fourth attempt at re-flashing and rebooting the drive, for shits and giggles I decided to switch which USB port it was connected to on the back of my motherboard. On my MSI X570 I have a row of 4 USB 3.2 ports. I switched which one of those 3.2 ports my drive was plugged in to by one and voila - LibreDrive is now recognized as enabled and actually functioning when I open a disc.

The weird part is I had my previous LG WH16NS40 and my Pioneer BDR-XS07UHD plugged into the same port and both worked fine. It's just this Verbatim that doesn't seem to like it. My guess is that one 3.2 port gets less stable power or signal integrity for whatever reason that was preventing LibreDrive from behaving properly on this specific drive.
