My brother has an LG BU40N drive that he pulled from a broken laptop. It's the same as the one in my Verbatim drive. However, the case he bought for it doesn't pass through the information about the drive correctly, and therefore he can't patch it. The computer (and by extension, MakeMKV) only see it as a "Generic" USB device instead of the LG BU40N that it actually is.
Can anyone recommend an external slim drive case that will work correctly? Preferably a proper USB 3 one that doesn't require an augmented 5v AC adapter to work.

I'm gonna give the OWC enclosure a try. They're usually a good brand. I'll report back here if it works.

How did you get on ? I am having a similar problem with enclosures (and USB to SATA cables) not passing through the installed drive's parameters.

OWC case appears to relay the drive info correctly. My brother got this one:
