UHD drive working on Windows but not on Linux (Ubuntu)

Post by sgtCalamari »

Drive flashed using SDFtool Flasher and working to rip UHD movies on Windows, but not working for the same movies on Linux. Both are running MakeMKV version 17.5 and tested on the same day. I've tried downgrading to version 17.4 and upgrading to version 17.6 but all Linux versions produce the same result. Other discs including DVD and Blu-Ray can be processed on both operating systems with this drive, with only UHD to fail on Linux. The "Enable Internet access" preference is enabled and I've attempted system restart, but the error persists.

Can't read AACS VID from disc - most likely current AACS host certificate is revoked by your drive
Saved AACS dump file as home/<user>/.MakeMKV/MKB20_v77_MARVEL_STUDIOS'_GUARDIANS_OF_THE_GALAXY_VOL_3_-_ULTRA_HD_6734.tgz
LibreDrive compatible drive is required to open this disc - video can't be decrypted.

Hey - I had the same issue. I noticed I would get this error right when I opened MakeMVK and before I clicked on the disk "Failed to get full access to drive "[insert drive name]". Make sure that you either have write access to device "/dev/sr0", are member of "cdrom" group or have CAP_SYS_RAWIO enabled.

It seems linux needs to be given access to the drive.

This reddit post helped: https://www.reddit.com/r/makemkv/commen ... ?rdt=57857

They suggest this command: sudo snap connect makemkv:optical-write :optical-drive
