WH14NS40 Question

Post by kfoster1979 »

Hello, everyone! I have read, reread, searched, read again, and watched youtube videos for guides on flashing; however, this is my second WH14 and I don't want to screw it up (again). The drive was manufactured 9/2020 and the current version is 1.05. Same as the last drive I had except that was on 1.04. The last one I flashed and it could no longer read any disc no matter what I did so I gave up decided I made a mistake a bought a new one. What I read is I need to flash with the same FW, but the MK one from the firmware file. Thanks for any help! After long last, I have enough HDD space to make this worth it if I can get it working.

SDFTool shows E: HL-DT-ST_BD-RE__WH14NS40_1.05_212005061444_KL1K98I1822 (it doesnt have the enc? checked)

MakeMKV shows

Hopefully you've read this: https://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic ... 16&t=19634

As I understand it, WH14NS40 1.05 is encrypted. There is a MK version of that firmware. Put on the MK version and you should be good to go.

Thanks and that is how I understand it as well. I'll give it a try !

Update: That is what I flashed and I was able to rip a UHD with ease.
