3D Blu-ray backup to disc not working

I wanted to see if I could make physical backups of 3D Blu-ray discs, so I did a backup with MakeMKV and then burned a Blu-ray disc. It mounts just fine on my computer and MakeMKV can open it, but when I put the disc in my Sony 3D Blu-ray player on my home theater system, it won't play the main title. It loads the menu just fine, but selecting the movie does not work. I've tried with both encrypted and decrypted copies but to no avail. Any ideas what might be the problem?
