Hi guys - I apologise if this has been answered elsewhere but couldn't find an opinion so wanted to clarify.
I bought a BU40N from Amazon.co.uk (without the Ultra HD bezel) with v1.03 firmware. I have sideloaded v1.03MK (if thats the correct terminology) and then downgraded to 1.00 and confirm it is able to rip UHD films.
The question is, is the v1.03MK better firmware than the original 1.00? Are there any differences beside it being MakeMKV firmware vs original? I'm just wondering if moving back to the v1.03MK would be better than staying on the original.
Thank you for all you efforts.
BU40 - MK or original firmware
Re: BU40 - MK or original firmware
The differences between firmwares is discussed in this forum sticky/guide:

In very short, MK firmware has minor tweaks to enable features the original firmware developer/drive manufacturers (e.g ASUS, LG, etc) have disabled for actions they don’t want you to be able to execute. No other changes as stated in that linked post.
