I'm trying out MakeMKV at the moment. Processing seems very quick which is great, but when I've searched for info on how it handles HD audio, there really doesn't seem to be much on the subject - well, none that I've found anyway.
Currently I have a season of a TV show on Blu-Ray. The episodes all have DTS HD MA as the highest level audio track. One of the things I feel very strongly about is ensuring that if the source audio is lossless, the backup file (the mkv) must also be lossless. What does MakeMKV do if I select the DTS HD MA audio track - is that what goes into the final mkv file, or does it get downgraded to standard DTS, or is it converted to PCM?
The same question goes for Dolby TrueHD.
....and, if it DOES store these HD audio tracks in the final mkv file, are there any players out there that are capable of playing the file back and bitstreaming the HD audio (assuming of course the correct hardware is in place) from an MKV file?
Any help answering these questions is appreciated!
