So the latest version of MakeMKV is telling me that my evaluation period has ended. I understand that there is a new key listed that is due to expire in May 2010. How do I update or use this new key ? I have reinstalled MakeMKV several times (1.5.2) but it still tells me that I have expired and I can't seem to find anywhere in the menus or preference where to enter a new code ?
This is on 10.6.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
How do I enter the new beta key ?
Re: How do I enter the new beta key ?
Okay, I must have been blind.
But I didn't really expect Register to be under the Help menu.
Sorry for a wasted post, but maybe it will help someone else as clueless as me

Re: How do I enter the new beta key ?
Well, you're not any dumber than I am. I too keep getting "Evaluation period has expired. Please purhase an activation key if you've found this application useful. You may still use all free functionality without any restrictions." I click OK, then I'm greeted with, in the main MakeMKV window:
"Evaluation period has expired, shreware functionality unavailable.
Failed to open disc"
I'm not sure what shre ware is, but MakeMKV's rip-blu-ray disc functionality is a total FAIL now. I can't even EVALUATE the program! sigh
I have done as the website instructs, paraphrased, "just download the latest MakeMKV and the beta expiration period will be reset, giving you full functionality (including ripping blu-ray)." I have no code to put into the Register field. That would be for a purchased POST-BETA version, I assume. Is anyone actually working on getting this ready for prime-time?
I hate DRM. I've dropped way too much money on discs that I can't even watch on my big screen. If I can't rip them to AppleTV then I can't watch them. I'm about ready to just give up and sell all the crap and go back to reading books from the library. At least I know how to work that paradigm!

Re: How do I enter the new beta key ?
I'm fully aware that I need to enter the beta key, my only issue is that I entered it about two months ago and for some reason the program is now saying that the key is invalid and I have no way to re-enter based on the mentioned thread, always when I am trying to run a youtube to mp3 converter. Any ideas for what might be going wrong? I am going to start digging through the directory now, including in my personal cloud. Do you guys know anything about cloud servers?captain wrote:SOLUTION!!!

Re: How do I enter the new beta key ?
There's something else wrong. I'm using the latest version of the application and the latest beta key, and it still keeps asking me to enter a registration code. I keep entering the same one, and it appears to accept it, but before I can rip any Blu-ray, it complains again.crowfax wrote:Beta keys expire. You need to add the new one from here:

Re: How do I enter the new beta key ?
I have installed the most recent MakeMKV v1.17.4 (29.5.2023) for windows but when I select help/register and input the most recent BETA Key, the license type is showing the key as Invalid. Is anyone else having this issue?

Re: How do I enter the new beta key ?
I found the answer to my own problem. If any of you are having issues using the new BETA key showing as invalid, instead of copying and pasting the text, drag the text from the window containing the key at (viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1053) and drop it into the MakeMKV window where you would input the code.
Re: How do I enter the new beta key ?
Just as a guess, based on prior issues with not just MakeMKV, how you copy/paste makes a big difference. It "used to be" that all copy/paste was done as text-only. But late-model (last 10 years or so) paste operations pick up formatting that isn't exactly visible, and will cause a lot of paste operations to fail.
I've started copy/pasting into a known-text-only application (Notepad on Windows, NOT Wordpad), they doing the highlight/copy in that known-text-only application before copying to the target (MakeMKV in this case).
This fixes a LOT of problems like this. Browsers have a lot of issues with this, for example.
