I have a particular disc, Spaced season 1, that when I rip it I get a 6GB .mkv file that is the entire season. There are other files which are the extras on the disc.

Is there a way to resolve it automatically?

Not automatically. MakeMKV works with what was authored on the disc. Most of us have been using MKVToolNix to post-process rips.

Thanks, I'll give that software a try.

And what you receive can vary with the disk set; the series Bleach has several sets, which have different configurations. Some have all episodes as individual files. Some have each disk (5-7 episodes) as one file. Some disks were authored both ways.

At least the Ranma 1/2 disks were all authored the same way, with 7 to 8 episodes per file...

I'm experiencing with most of the Friends DVDs, that MakeMKV is creating a large file with 6 chapters in addition to the individual episodes. This is not consistent though. For instance, Season 2 Discs 1 and 4 have this but DIscs 2 and 3 do not. I've confirmed there are separate files on the DVD but MakeMKV seems to be create the single file most of the time for this series.

So far, MakMKV has created multi-chapter video files (1 per disc, 4 discs), for Seasons 3-8. I'm currently in the process of ripping my Season 7, etc.

Any thoughts? I'm not bothered by it. Should I just keep the single files and not worry about the compiled one and save space?
