Convert m2ts Files

I have been using a MKV for a while now, i have some of my backups in m2ts files and would like to put these in MKV format.
Basically i used makeMKV to back up disk to hard drive originally, can i still use these to convert to MKV or do i need to start from scratch with the disc.

Just open the backup with MakeMKV using the "Open files" button found in the toolbar.

and select either "index.bdmv" or "MovieObject.bdmv" from the "BDMV" folder/directory...

I was trying to do it with the Streams folder and was blank.
