Buffalo Blu-Ray drive cannot read DVDs or Blu-Rays - makemkv and systemwise

Post by z55575 »

Unsure where else to ask this but seeing as this is the defacto forum for Blu-Ray and DVD ripping feel it's appropriate.

I'm unable to read DVDs or Blu-Rays on my Buffalo BD Drive.
I've tried multiple different discs from Regions 1 and 2. I have tried on Linux and Windows 10.

I can read CDs and redbook music CDs no problem.

It seems the drive is being connected or recognized as a CD-ROM drive for some reason? I'm really confused as to why that might be...

Drive is a Buffalo BRXL-PT6U3-BKD from Japan (Region 2). It's genuine per the serial.
I upgraded the firmware to the latest from Buffalo, perhaps that was a mistake. I'm unsure if there's an MK Libredrive firmware, I can't find the corresponding .bin in the firmware pack.
