Subtitles too trasparent to view on 40" Smart TV (Samsung)

A peculiar problem has occurred when trying to view the video "CARMINA BURANA" on my TV.

The English subtitles are too translucent and therefore hardly visible on the TV screen with TV setup changes having no effect.

On the computer the same subtitles are perfectly visible.

This is the only video this has happened.

Is there something I can do about it when extracting the video with MakeMKV?

It sounds like a palette problem.

Try running the thing through BDSup2Sub, edit the palette and see what you can make from it.

What is BDSup2Sub and what is palette?

Subtitles on DVD and BD are "image files" - mostly transparent pictures with the text on them, which are combined with the main picture for display. The pallet is the colors the letters are drawn in. The author of the disk will usually chose them to contrast with the picture they are being combined with. They also chose the font of the letters used.

BDSup2Sub is a program that attempts to convert these pictures into text. Once they're in text format, you can change the colors used, if your TV allows it.

You still are dependent upon how your TV renders the subtitles once you do this, and many TVs are not very good at it.

Actually, it's DVDSubExtractor that converts graphics subtitles to text, BDSup2Sub converts between graphics to graphics using resizing and such, hence the name.
