It is not clear to me what the options shown in Preferences / Advanced Tabs are for.
Could somebody clarify?

Much of what is covered by the advanced tab, and just about everything about profiles, will require reading the topics in the "Advanced MakeMKV usage" section of the forum.
Most of it has to do with automating selection of tracks, or specifying how to convert some audio tracks to other CODECs.
