Choppy streaming to VLC

Hi all,

I'm a big fan of MakeMKV but have been having some issues lately with Blu-ray playback on VLC. Direct playback works perfectly but when I choose the streaming option to access titles other than the main title (cast interviews, behind the scenes etc.), playback is choppy enough to be unwatchable. Streaming used to work fine, not sure exactly when it stopped working for me.

Is there something I can do to fix this, or perhaps is there a way to play other titles with direct playback?

I'm using an early 2011 Macbook Pro, OSX 10.8.5, 2.3GHz Intel Core i5, 4GB RAM, VLC 2.1.5 64bit and MakeMKV 1.9.0. My Blu-ray drive is a Samsung portable SE-506.

I hope I've provided enough information - I'd really appreciate any advice.
